I’ve been racking my brain for clever ways to describe the sways and swells of Look Mexico’s latest and all I keep thinking is “Fuck, this is good.” The well-written lyrics, the often bluesy guitar work and the exceptionally clean recording all lead to a fine example of what can be accomplished when proper musicians put in the effort to create something both polished and raw.
Each track is different enough to show a complexity to Look Mexico’s ability to craft a song; they combine to form a very cohesive album that I can’t stop listening to. Seriously, once the album closer “Just Like Old Times” ends, I find myself running to my stereo to hit the play button and curse myself for not hitting “repeat all” in the first damned place.
