Whoa! This is Thrice?! I assumed that after their little experiment with the Alchemy Index that they would go back to thrashing chords and screaming at me. Instead, they fused the stellar songwriting they presented on The Alchemy Index with the passion they had in their previous works. The result is Beggars, a perfect balance of aqueous ballads (“Circles”) and fiery assaults (“At The Last”). Add in the bass-heavy opener “All The World is Mad” and the jazz-esque title track and you have yourself one hell of a well-rounded album.
