I am soooo sick and tired of the same crap. “Dubya’s gunna pass a bill that will kill all the homos! Write in to your representatives and tell them to vote for bill H.R. 1441.” And then a shitload of people repost it on MySpace, mass forward the email, or whatever. How much do you want to bet that no one looked up what H.R. (House of Representatives) bill 1441 was. I did. Here it is. H.R. 1441 was to give American Companies first dibs on Iraq. The same thing? No. Do many people do the research? No. But the two people of Snopes.com, Barbara and David Mikkelson do.
These two are the only staff at Snopes, whose goal is to educate the masses on mass e-mail circulations,urban legends and other such oddities. Snopes has a “Top 25 Urban Legends” section, which is actually pretty cool. This one for example, is cool as hell. This little vent is short and to the point: think for yourself! But, if you aren’t going to, the Mikkelson’s will do it for you.
