The So So Glos – Tourism/Terrorism – CD Review
The So So Glos
Tourism/Terrorism
Green Owl Records
4/10
There’s something to be said about sloppiness as it pertains to punk, and sloppiness as it pertains to…chaos. The drums are Meg White at her very beginning, the guitars are as thin as Dubya’s upper lip (buuuurrrrnnn!) and the vocals sound like someone’s had too much Red Bull and vodka at the local karaoke bar. It’s just not together. Now, there are many punk bands that I listen to that sound like a fourth grade music appreciation class, but jeez- this is the same bedlam, without the necessary passion. I appreciate the attempts at political commentary, but I’m not feeling it. “Love or Empire,” a nice little acoustic track, might be more what they should be going after. Anything requiring more energy, and they’re likely to fuck it up.

i read this review and thought: oh this guys dead wrong. the so so glos are the band with the most energy around. then i read more reviews by this amateur and turns out he gave anberlin a good review. he likes myspace music i guess? ha, he doesnt get it. what a dope…
Ah yes, what an amazingly unfounded comment, with truly excellent grammar.
I NEVER HEARD OF ANY THIS SHIT! FUCK YOU FAGITS!
This review is incorrect on so many levels. The So So’s sound is not sloppy at all, it works perfectly coherently to create wonderful upbeat songs that are incredibly danceable. “Throw Your Hands Up DJ” ingeniously moves seamlessly from insanely fun tropical to angry as hell punk. Although, “Love or Empire” is good I definitely wouldn’t recommend them moving in that direction, their energy is the cornerstone of their music.
