Dear Banner Pilot,

I recently received your CD and press release and had a few comments for you.

A) I really appreciate it when bands are honest when they same things like “we sound like bands A, B and C.” I appreciate the honesty. I also agree that you sound like the Lawrence Arms, though I would like to throw in a bit of Screeching Weasel-esque snotty punk as well.

B) I appreciate the entirety of your earnest press kit. The lack of other reviews showed me a courtesy lacking in the industry as a whole. I don’t appreciate it when I get huge stacks of what other mags/media outlets are saying about you, it makes me feel like you just want me to say what they do.

C) To other bands/publicity peeps reading this: Don’t waste time and paper writing more than ¾ of a page of Bio. A couple paragraphs will suffice. What Banner Pilot did here was give me a few random bands it’s members have been a part of, label, website, contact info, and track listing. As well as a personal message to pass it on in case I don’t like it. Which I do, but I will rip the files to my iTunes, and pass it along anyways.

D) To address your request for a review: Yes, I will review it. I will gush to my friends, family and loyal(?) readers of Racket on how you seem to be an honest and genuine band who wants to be heard rather than make a fortune. The Lawrence Arms/Dillinger Four and my own Screeching Weasel similarities I believe are accurate and speak for themselves. Your recommended tracks of “Empty Your Bottles” and “Speed Trap” will be going on mix CDs for friends for some time to come. I would say a high eight or low nine out of ten. You know what, let’s say low nine. 9.2, final answer. Definitely “A” material, but I expect bigger and better things out of you on the future as well.

E) I hope we remain the best of friends.

Sincerely Yours,
The Emperor.
