Maya Hawke – Live at The Triple Door in Seattle

As soon as Maya Hawke stepped on the stage at The Triple Door in Seattle, she captured the full attention of the audience. Billed as “an evening with,” The Triple Door was the perfect setting for a cozy, softly lit, stripped-down acoustic trio performance set against a backdrop of sparkling stars, featuring Maya alongside her husband, singer/songwriter Christian Lee Hutson, and violinist Odessa Jorgensen.

The night was a celebration of Maya’s upcoming fourth studio album, Maitreya Corso. Though the evening was dedicated to Maya’s musical endeavors, it was impossible to overlook the tiny elephant in the room – that most of the audience likely knows her from a certain television show. In fact, within seconds of Maya stepping on stage there was a rogue “I love Stranger Things!” hurled toward the stage. Maya accepted it with grace and a kind “thank you!” and then went on to showcase how she’s much more than “Robin from Stranger Things.” In fact, she held the audience’s attention so well that she even remarked that we couldn’t hear any clanging of silverware and dishes, despite the dinner theater’s audience dining during the performance – Maya had their full attention and respect.

In addition to singles like “Devil You Know,” Maya treated the audience to unreleased songs from the upcoming album, peppered with anecdotes and stories behind them. It was a casual, comfortable, and memorable evening – one that felt like Maya had just invited us into her living room for a jam session with friends.

Maya demonstrated a quiet confidence as a songwriter – seeming to be less concerned with spectacle and more focused on storytelling, allowing the music to stand entirely on its own. If this night was any indication, Maitreya Corso will lean into that same intimacy – prioritizing storytelling over polish, and offering something that feels deeply personal rather than performative. The album is scheduled to release on May 1 via Mom + Pop.
