Holy fuck. I’ve never been interested in words like “post-metal” or progressive anything, but Irepress (pronounced ear-press, apparently) is fucking rad. The band brings ambience into the realm of distortion and swirls around with some straight up crazy ass shit. From the glistening guitars that could easily be what John Frusciante hears when he’s tripping balls to the drums that swing from minimalistic to poly-rhythmic, Irepress is an ear-fuck. That is a good thing. It’s probably not br00tal enough for the Cradle of Filth or Cannibal Corpse crowd, but for the metal-kids who like Tool’s droning, ambient explorations, you may be into Irepress as well.
