I was introduced to Winston from Parkway Drive, and although he only had about 5 minutes to spare, he was excited to talk to Racket non-the less.
RacketAnn: Wow, it’s definitely hot out today. You look hot, in a sweaty kind of way.
Winston McCall: Haha, yeah it is hot, I’m all sweaty and not just because I was just on stage.
RA: Haha… I can hear you have an accent, is that from New Zealand?
WM: Australia actually, our band is from Australia so we have come a long ways.
RA: Very cool! So what do you think of Cali, is it a culture shock?
WM: A shock, a little bit. I mean we love it here because of the weather and because we get to go the beach and surf, a lot of the things we do back home.
RA: That sounds amazing. I was more referring to the way people are here in LA, the Hollywood lifestyles and the music scene.
WM: Oh yeah, that is definitely different. The scene in Australia is definitely not as mainstream as it is here and neither are the people.
RA: What do you think of all these crazy young hipsters who have been brought here by their parents just to watch you perform?
WM: Yeah I gotta tell you it’s weird, I mean I have never seen so many people dress the way they do here, and young girls too. I was noticing that earlier, there were girls wearing nothing but underwear and bathing-suit tops. So many young kinds here as well.
RA: Yes, they are all here to see Fall Out Boy haha. So do you feel like you fit in with this crowd?
WM: I’m not sure, I feel like I may need to grow out my hair a little bit longer.
A: Well good luck on that and thanks for taking the time to chat!
W: My pleasure!
