The Animation Block Valentine’s Day Showcase kicked off the romance last night at the Troubadour in West Hollywood with a vibrant, twisted evening in the key of love. The event was hosted by Animation Block founder Casey Safron and featured shorts from Nickelodeon, Six Point Harness and the LoopdeLoop animation challenge. The evening’s showcase played a sampling of animations shown during the New York festival which holds the honor of being biggest animation festival on the East Coast with an attendance of over 4,500 people. The night’s music was headlined by San Francisco-based Blackbird Blackbird with an opening act by Colleen Green.
Fans of Plymton’s distinctive exaggerated style and particular brand of comical lewdness got an eyeful watching the premiere of an exclusive cartoon bumper from the two-time Oscar nominee’s new film “Cheatin’”, a tale of a torrid affair and the women who fell for a wandering heart. Guests were also treated to a look at the mtv(other) series “Baby”. If the checklist for a dream partner includes holding your hair back while you binge puke, raising your illegitimate child, and being supportive of your Steam-Punk documentary you’re working on as they quietly pick up the check, look no further your Casanova awaits.
