Comic-Con 2013 Exclusives – Part Two

DeadpoolsAssembleMarvel Minimates Deadpools Assemble Set of 4

In sticking with our love of the merc with a mouth, we have to applaud these Minimates versions of Wade “Deadpool” Wilson. Includes Cable-Pool, Captain Ameri-Pool, Thor-Pool, and Phonics-Killer Iron Deadpool. You can have all sorts of adventures between these and the Hasbro Deadpool Corps taco truck we mentioned in our last article. You can find them at the Action Figure XPress booth (3345) for $22. If you want to make sure you get your grubby little nerd fingers on them, you can pre-order them here: http://www.shopafx.com/20sandicoatp2.html

Minimates Wolverine Saga Box Set

It was hard to decide to include the Wolverine Saga box set versus the Jay and Silent Bob Minimates, but we went with Wolverine to match up with Deadpool’s set. I mean, we at Racket are not above playing with our toys. We might be below simply displaying our toys in their boxes, however. Diamond Select’s exclusive includes Symbiote Wolverine, Spacesuit Wolverine, Ultimate Wolverine and Logan-san in Japanese Robes each stand 2 inches tall, with a variety of interchangeable parts and accessories, all in a window box. If your Wolverines have no interest in space or robes, the spacesuit is removable, as are the robes. Have fun playing dress-up while interchanging Deadpool outfits with Mr. Howlett. This set’s $2 cheaper at $20 even and you can find the Diamond Select Toys booth at 2607.

SW Black Series SDCC

Star Wars® The Black Series 6-Inch Boba Fett™ Action Figure with Han Solo™ in Carbonite Accesory

We mentioned some sweet swag that Hasbro has up in our last preview, but they own the licensing for some of our favorite worlds, like Star Wars, Transformers, GI Joe, and more. With the announcement that Disney is going to make another Star Wars trilogy, fans are clutching at their vintage toys, hoping for the best, but planning for the worst. Hasbro brings forth a beloved villain from the past, a 6 inch Boba Fett action figure, complete with a frozen Han Solo in carbonite as part of their “Black Series,” which I can only assume is the color of George Lucas’ tears. It’s also gonna set you back $45. You can always make up the money by catching yourself some wanted criminals yourself. Peep it at the Hasbro booth, #3329.

Batusi1_003_600x600

BATMAN Classic TV Series Batusi Batman™

When I think of Adam West’s Batman, I think of the Batusi dance. That said, I’m pretty excited for this figure from Mattel. It’s a pretty spectacular version of the iconic scene, with a fabric cape and some kind of mechanism that allows the figure to do the dance on its own, while still in the package (which is pretty much a Shag illustration in 3D). The packaging also plays “music with a 60’s vibe.” That’s pretty fucking cool. $30 at the Mattel booth, #3029

Hot Wheels® A-Team® Van

While Mattel has the sweet Batman, I have to admit, I also love the A-Team Van Hot Wheels from Mattel, but I can’t get over the fact that it’s twenty times more expensive than, you know, Hot Wheels. Sure, it’s got “mud” all over the tires, body, and window and has a package that looks like an ammo box, but COME ON; $20 for a HOT WHEELS VAN? This one’s up to you folks.

Chewbacca and Derpy Mimobots

Mimobot has gotten themselves into the routine of providing fantastic exclusives for Comic Con, including Adventure Time, Star Wars, and My Little Pony flash drives. This year’s exclusives include a Chewbacca (with busted C3PO on his back), a Derpy My Little Pony, and Blake from Workaholics, all in flash drive form. The 8GBs cost around $20, and get to 128GBs for well over $100. They’re still announcing exclusives, so pay attention to their social media channels.

Cave Man Domo

The Domo love from Racket has been unwavering. We like monsters, we like cute; Domo is a friend around here. Dark Horse Comic is slanging an ancient form of Domo for $8.99, a solid deal.

Axe Cop Badge Replica

Hands down the best (not free) SDCC exclusive goes to the Axe Cop Badge. For the budget conscious Con-goer, the $5 badge is sure to make your friends jealous when they find out the Nick Offerman is going to be the voice of Axe Cop in the upcoming animated series on Fox. If you feel like splurging, you can find plush versions of Avocado Soldier and Wexter (A T. Rex with freaking mini-guns for arms) for pre-order http://www.mezcotoyz.com/exclusives/ or directly at the Mezco booth, #3445.

Minecraft Gold Sword

One of the nerdiest things I see are huge replicas of cities or movie scenes done in Minecraft. It’s like Legos, but even more time consuming. So, it’s fitting that Think Geek brings forth the SDCC exclusive Gold Sword (at a reasonable $25) to the masses of one of the most dense populations of nerds, geeks, cosplayers, and gamers in the world. I’m NOT saying this is a bad thing, Hell, I mentioned having a Deadpool/Wolverine MiniMates battle earlier. Grab your sword at booth 5541 to start slaying your pixelated enemies with haste.

Yoda Dog and Cat Ears

A quick runner up is Petco’s Yoda ears for pets. At first I didn’t have a clue why they would be at Comic-Con (at booth 2913), but then I realized that 1) Petco Park is across the street , 2) there’s probably no shortage of Star Wars cosplayers that are also pet-owners, and 3) Petco is releasing their Star Wars Pets Fans Collection in-store September 1st – featuring Chewbacca dog hoodies, Millennium Falcon cat teaser toys, and more. Unlike everything else on the list, Petco’s exclusive is FREE.
